Pyrelight

Darkness has taken over the forest and it brings evil with it.  Your only hope is to ignite the four pyres and spread light into the darkness to defeat the monsters.  Collect sticks to craft torches, and place them to spread the light from the magical campfire through the forest to reach the pyres.

Cool stuff, Zack. Lighting the torch is buggy for me. On brave browser.

Hi! Thanks for making this game, it was fun to play! I liked the simple and engaging gameplay. Your game is the first one to scare me in the jam. Oh god, I nearly had a heart attack every time. So creepy.  I love your art and tileset.

Your use of lighting is really good here, and this is an interesting approach to the lighting the way style gameplay. It felt like the right amount of challenge, especially on the path to the first pyre, though afterwards the other 3 felt a bit obvious and easy to approach. That wasn't really a problem though, because it was fun to just go through the motions of making it.

I found some of your hitboxes/areas to be a bit unwieldy, such as the fireplace in the center of the room which you can only light torches on in the center bottom of the fire. I wish I could light it off the sides and top. Similarly, I wish I could place a torch, craft a torch, and light my new torch, all without moving. As is you have to move off and back onto the placed torch for the "E" to appear.

Your music is a bit repetitive which got to be a bit grating near the end. The menu music is repetitive as well, but has those extra flourishes that make it really groovy and easier to listen to. I wonder how that music would sound inside the game. Either way the music was pretty good.

Thanks for making this game, I had fun playing with it. The freaky guys reminded me of SkiFree.

Hi, Colton, thank you for playing our (team of 2) game! We are glad you enjoyed playing, and we thank you for taking the time to write up all of this feedback. This was our first attempt at making a game, and we appreciate every bit of feedback we can get. We hope to continue updating and improving the game into the future.
